RusAccreditation and RUDN University Announce New Department on the Basis of RusAccreditation National Accreditation Institute

It was reported by Alexey Khersontsev, Head of RusAccreditation, and Evgeny Schesnyak, Acting Rector of RUDN University, at the opening of the full-time part of the professional development program “Practical Matters on the Activities of Testing Laboratories (Centers). Accreditation Criteria in the National Accreditation System. General Requirements for the Competence of Testing Laboratories” on April 1.

The Head of the Federal Service for Accreditation said that the joint project of the RusAccreditation National Accreditation Institute and RUDN University was launched in January 2019, which gave rise to the creation of a single educational platform of the national accreditation system. The project evaluates new educational technology, distance learning, and practice in laboratories and R&D centers of RUDN University.

During the first three months of the single educational platform operation, eight educational programs were implemented, and more than 200 students were trained. The RusAccreditation National Accreditation Institute together with the RUDN International Institute of Sectoral Economy Strategic Development implemented three new relevant professional development programs in construction materials conformity assessment.

The advanced training program “Practical Matters on the Activities of Testing Laboratories (Centers). Accreditation Criteria in the National Accreditation System. General Requirements for the Competence of Testing Laboratories” was one of the most popular. Leading experts from the RusAccreditation National Accreditation Institute assist in the educational project. At the moment the second group of students is being formed; the beginning of training is scheduled for May 13

“I expect that such educational programs related to competence development will make it possible to promptly create a layer of accredited conformity assessment bodies in Russia, who will give priority to such concepts as professionalism, competence, trust, and integrity,” Alexey Khersontsev emphasized.

Acting Rector of RUDN University Evgeny Schesnyak noted that the specifics of the university – its international focus – require to expand the field for joint activities with RusAccreditation and to create a specialized department in RUDN University on the basis of the RusAccreditation National Accreditation Institute.

The introduction of the specialized department offers opportunities for acquiring new competencies in the areas licensed and taught in RUDN, such as Construction, Standardization and Metrology, Ecology, Agronomy, Geology, Veterinary Medicine, Oil and Gas Business, Energy Engineering, Control in Technical Systems, and other sectoral economy areas.

The primary objective of the department is to engage students in scientific projects under the guidance of the leading specialists of the RusAccreditation National Accreditation Institute, as well as to apply modern equipment to the academic organizational system “university - specialized department - specialized organization” that combines the fundamental training of the students in the university with their special training in the leading R&D centers and accredited entities.

The RUDN specialized department will cover both the competence development in the national accreditation system participants, domestic manufacturers and exporters, and training of students and employees for RusAccreditation. This form of cooperation between RusAccreditation and RUDN University will contribute to the promotion of the export of Russian goods and services — the task assigned to RusAccreditation within the framework of the national project “International Cooperation and Export” — and will help direct foreign partners towards the Russian market.

The event was attended b Evgeniya Kotova, Director General of the National Accreditation Institute of RusAccreditation; Elena Savenkova, Director of the RUDN International Institute of Sectoral Economy Strategic Development; and Adel Lebedeva, Deputy Director General of the National Accreditation Institute of RusAccreditation. On behalf of RUDN, the International Institute of Sectoral Economy Strategic Development takes responsibility for the implementation of the programs and projects.
